Daniel loved serving his country, he loved going to war. That's all he talked about. That's what was in his blood.
    — Roland "Junior" Colmenero, family friend

Quintana was killed Sept. 10 in Paktika province, Afghanistan, when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire. Quintana was an Air Force police officer in 2003 when he decided he wanted to be a soldier and fight on the front lines. He enlisted in the Army in 2005 and served his first combat tour in Iraq in 2008.

    THANK YOU!!!!!!! DANIEL

It takes a special person to sacrifice themselves for others. There is going to come a time when war will be no more.

And when we will see our dead loved ones again. JOHN 5:28 Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out to the resurrection of life.

    Look forward and be hopeful.............

I ran my first marathon two months ago @ Ft. Benning, GA. Prior to the race, I was approached by a volunteer to run in honor of a "fallen soldier". She led me to a table full of sheets of paper, all spread out, each with a biography and a picture. I felt really creepy "shopping" for a dead hero to run in honor of, but Daniel's story struck me. Being a father myself, I couldn't imagine the grief and loneliness his family is feeling, especially before the holidays. I picked up Daniel's paper, pinned it to my chest, and proceeded to the starting line. Daniel ran the whole race with me.

His picture is now hanging on my wall at work, and will remain there as long as I do. It's the most memoriable part of my first marathon. RIP, and God bless your family. I hope they find peace.

There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of you cousin and miss you. It makes me sad to think that you can't be with your beautiful litttle girl and the rest of your family but you did what loved and that's why your my hero.
