He was my right hand.
    — Reina Gonzalez, mother

Gonzalez-Iraheta was born in El Salvador. When he was 11 he saved his younger brother from a powerful river current. As a teenager, he sacrificed fun to help his parents make ends meet. After his father's stroke he became the man of the family.

Three memories of Felix G. Gonzalez-Iraheta

Felix was my best friend in High School. I never agreed with him joining the ARMY and argued with him about it right up to the end. I must admit, he was a stubborn son of a gun and I was never able to change his mind about enlisting. This man had honor and integrity, and for that, I respect him. I hope all who did not know Felix remember one thing about him; Felix was born in El Salvador, but lived and died like a true American.

1 of the best people i have had the honor to know in my lifetime and allthough it has been years now he is sorely missed, appreciated, and loved as an example of everything that is great about this country in my mind. His accomplishments in life and character as a man are truly inspirational.

"Gonzo" was the most humble, disciplined and dedicated soldier I ever served with. I found out recently of his passing yet it feels like he is still among us. That is indicative of how powerful his character and personality is. He touched every one that knew him. It was truly an honor to know the Soldier, the Man, and call him Friend.
