I wouldn't say he was a giant go-getter, but he recognized the need to do something with his life. I knew he was going to end up somewhere instead of floating the rest of his life.

I am one of the corpsman who trained with HM3 for this very mission to Afghanistan. I only knew him for 5 or so months but I knew him well. Me and James seemed to mesh well together and we were always side by side together, we depended on each other. James always talked about his passion for music and how, when he got out of the navy he would open up a music studio and produce music. He was a great friend, a great corpsman, and a great person... James was the person who i connected to the most in the entire unit, and I will miss him deeply. Rest in peace brother, you will never be forgotten

James was my great-nephew and because of life... I never spent the time I wished I could have with him. He deserved all that life had to offer, yet it didn't happen that way. My heartfelt sympathy goes to his mother, Nikki, who has done all that a mother could do in everything to keep all of her children's lives steady, may God give you peace that does surpass all human understanding and to his father, Brent, whom I love with all my heart may he do the same for you. And to Jesse and Jordan may his absence be stronger than his presence at times because he will always be with you. God Bless All!

I was a corpsman for 2/4 Golf Co. 3rd Platoon infantry. It pains my heart when I hear of fellow Marines and Corpsmen losing their lives. Many days I shed real tears for fallen brothers. Please let's all remember to fly the american flag and when you see a veteran, thank them for their service. We all do enjoy our freedom and it isn't free.

James was my nephew my sisters 1st born son. The first boy in a family of all girls. I respect his choices to serve our country and and fight for all of our rights to be free. He will always be honored and remebered as a hero not just for his military actions but for the loving, caring, genuine young man that he had become. We will love and miss you forever...

I remembered James from class 100 at corpsman "A" school, how he was always more focused, attentive and motivated then me. I also remember us being but a handful of guys living in beq 132. Brother you are not forgotten. - HN Kenneth Daniel

In my opinion, James was a giant-go-getter. This young man done so much more with his life than most, can ever imagine. James wasn't "floating," as one writer states. James was defending you and I . James is a real, American HERO. God bless James and his wonderful family.

Dear Family of Jamesy Ray~
Please pardon me for using the name that you all reserved for him. The name that when he heard it, meant that someone that was speaking to him was someone that was close, someone that knew him well. And most importantly, someone that loved him.
This is the first time I've seen this web page. Feeling deeply the losses that this page signifies, I was already in tears. And then stopping to read each message written to honor the memory of James, I was transported and made a member of a family, and community that loved, valued and appreciated this young man. I could visualize him at family gatherings, at work, kicking it with his friends, and focused and on task in the service with his military brothers.
I am so sorry for all of your loss. I am so sorry for all of our loss. Let us turn these messages, and the images and memories they spark of this fine young man's Life, into inspiration to live our own lives borrowing some of those best qualities of James, which will make him be so missed. Bless you all. Bless us all.
