    Landaker was earning his physics degree and playing baseball at the University of La Verne when the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks occurred. It led him to enlist in the Marine Corps.

    Three memories of Jared M. Landaker

    Although I never truly got to know Jared, we went through four years of high school together in the same grade. When I heard of his passing via an "In memory of" bumper sticker on a visit to Big Bear I was shocked and saddened. Jared's bravery and heroism will always be remembered, as he put himself on the line for our country and freedom. Bless you Jared and rest in peace.

    my son used to play baseball with jared
    but we didn't really know him or the ,
    we did'nt know the Landaker family til later.
    When i found out it was someone who lived in the same town that i did, i felt like someone just beat me with a
    baseball bat!
    he is a hero and I am proud of him and his brave crew Rest in Peace Jared!
