He would never hang up the phone without saying he loved me. He left nothing unsaid. I hear all about how he was a great soldier, but he was also a great man.
    — Theresa Cunningham, widow

A combat medic, Cunningham was awarded the Air Force Cross for his efforts to save 10 wounded comrades despite his own fatal wounds. He was raised in New Mexico but considered his home Camarillo, where his wife was from and where they planned to settle.

Knew both Jason and Theresa back in Naples IT. Heck Jason was my roommate until we moved into the new barracks. He was a hell of a guy and a true friend.
I feel bad that I lost contact with both of them.

I was only 12 when I was at your memorial service. My father, a retired PJ, brought me out to New Mexico for the reunion that year. Your bravery will forever be in my mind. You are my inspiration as I train to be a PJ. I Pray all is well with your family.
