He was a fun-loving, great husband and dad. He was everything to me.
    — Michele Buzzard, widow

During his final leave in May 2006, Buzzard watched his son play catcher in three baseball games, and his daughter play outfield in a softball game. Michala was 12 and Tristen 9 when he died.

At one of my birthday parties the theme was the 60s and all the parents dressed up and I remember my dad hid on our roof with a icechest full of water balloons and he threw them down at my friends and I and started a massive water fight!I miss him always and love him very much!! He is my hero!!

Jason was always someone who could make me smile! If he was being goofy or just tackling me! His life touched so many and I know he is still with us everyday! In every decision I make and every milestone we get through His voice is always my voice of reasoning and understanding! I miss him so much!

I didn't know Sgt. Buzzard or his family, I just stumbled across this by accident and it really touched me. Thank you Sir for your service, for putting others before yourself and everything you've done for our country! Michele, my heart goes out to you and your children. I just lost my 39 year old husband March 14th of this year to cancer. I'm raising our 12 year old son alone and I know what you are going through. You're in my prayers.
