During his high school years, a lot of the times we had movie nights, game nights, he opted to do that rather than go hang out with friends. He was always giving us hugs, always telling us he loved us.

Lucente went to church regularly, held down a summer job as a dishwasher and enlisted in the Marines in his junior year of high school. In his last e-mail home, Lucente asked for prayers for his safety and that of others.

I never met John. I would like to have. My store has a banner filled with the local boys serving both stateside and abroad. Just last week, we took a separate wall for those local boys who gave their all. Your photo graces that wall with honor. Heartfelt sadness, pride, and thanks to John and the Lucente family. No words can express.
