I know that he's probably with my father in heaven. But as a mother, I'm egotistical. Because I don't want to let him go, because I miss him. I'm going to miss his hugs. His laugh. Those nights we were all together. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Holy Week. They won't ever feel the same. He was a sweet boy -- affectionate and respectful.
    — Rosa Gonzalez, mother

Gonzalez persuaded his mother that the family could never afford college, and she consented to let him enlist. She worried, though, that he might die or find himself in a spot where he might kill a child.

Seven memories of Jorge Alonso Gonzalez

Gonzalez, another latino brother mingled in the acts of our govt senseless war. He is a hero and a victim, but in my heart he is the greatest person ever to exist. For all of us who knew him, we will cherish his affection forever. Hasta la victoria...companero!

I dont know who Jorge is, but knowing that he attended El Monte High School strikes me in the heart because I graduated from El Monte in 95. My heart and prayers goes out to Jorges Family. I hope that we end the war now and never have to ever experience anything like this again. We must never supply people in office with so much power like we did with Bush, especially when all he knew how to do is SCREW everythign up!!!!

First of all let me begin by saying that my thoughts and prayers are with Jorge's family. During my time at El Monte High School, I met Jorge when we both played for the school's Varsity Soccer team. The memory of his life will forever live on in my heart, for he lost his life fighting for our freedom. Even though this was not his fight, he made the greatest sacrifice one could make, just so that my son as well as future generations wouldn't have to live in a world full of terrorism and violence. Jorge hs made a great impact on my life in the short time I knew and I am sure he has made everyone in his family very proud. My prayers go out to his family and his brother Mario. Mario, keep your head up!
