He wrote daily to his wife. He told her he wanted to put her in a crystal box so not even the wind would damage her. It was the most beautiful letter I ever read.
    — Georgina Benitez, aunt

    In his last letter to his wife, Mora wrote about returning home and taking her on a tour of the world. The two grew up down the street from each other.

    11 memories of Jose L. Mora

    he was a great father to all his children... he surely is missed by MANY of us......

    It is unfortunate to know what the outcome of this has brought to our family,but with this said, we shall regain strength and know that we deeply miss him and love him.

    We pray for you, Jose

    I know that your Redeemer lives;
    The last day you shall rise again.
    Receive his soul, O holy ones;
    Present him now to God, Most High.
    Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and may his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

    We will always remember you In the City of Bell Gardens and this Country.

    I will never forget the time my cousin Jose, Michael and I built a basketball court together. It took us a whole day but we did it!

    The memories I have of Jose are what I hold close to my heart. But what is most painful to me is not his passing, but that his friends family and children have to wait until they all see him again, before they can share stories and laughs once more.

    There is not a day, that he is not in my thoughts. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Son, Grandchild, Nephew, Cousin and Soldier. My greatest memory will be that I was able to visit with you in Colorado a few weeks before you deployed to Iraq. My dearest cousin....I love you and miss you very much!

    Mora, it's difficult to see a friend gone but it's alwyas good to know that god has taken you to a better place. Iraq was hell and I'm honored to have served with you. Led By Love of Country.

    We meet in Iraq in 2003 and worked side by side all the way until we lost him. He was a great person that I think of often and I will never forget. The best times that we had was trading movies and reading the clipped comic strips that his wife would send him and always talking about the big TV he was going to get when he got back home. I will always miss you and you will always inspire me in all that I do.
