Joe was a wonderful person. He was a terrific son. He always had a friendly smile and was a great storyteller. We will miss him dearly.
— Charlie Nurre, father, about his only son
His parents say he was an outgoing man who enjoyed making friends. He liked playing football and hanging out on the beach in Capitola, where his family had a home.
