He was being the best husband a guy could possibly be.
    — Olivia Hardt, wife

Hardt was one of eight soldiers killed Oct. 3 in Kamdesh, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their contingency outpost with small arms, rocket-propelled grenade and indirect fires. His older brother Jonathon, who is also in the Army, said his brother loved trout and bass fishing, playing baseball and practicing karate.

There's too many amazing memories of Josh to share, but I know that I will always remember New Years 2009 and Josh and Olivia's anniversary as two of the craziest and most fun nights of my life. We looked forward to spending every weekend with Josh and Liv and partying it up! I remember hugging him before he got on the bus to leave for Afghanistan and knowing life would just not be the same with out him... and it never will. All the great memories will always be in my heart and he will always be with us as a great friend. We love you and miss you Josh! XOXOXOXO

We knew eachother pretty well josh..In fact we spent the majority of our lives butting heads. But School brought us together in class, and football brought us together on the field. And no matter what the beef...we always put our best foot forward and played on the same team. All I can say is...I guess we found out who the better man was didn't we? Thank you for the service, and my condolences to your family. You were a true warrior...a dying breed. You will be missed. HOO-AH Sergeant.

    My Love,
My most cherished memory was when it was just you and I in our Colorado apartment one night. You were sitting on the coach with your leg proped up on your other knee like you always did...with a cup in your hand :) You were watching football very seriously...that face always made me laugh. I was bored and you told me to paint because you knew how much I loved it. You convined me to start a huge painting. We weren't speaking or interacting with each other, but we were so happy to know we were with each other. At one point you looked over and commented on how beautiful it looked and I hadn't even painted yet, it was just a rough sketch. That smile and glow on your face when you looked over at me made me feel so important to you. This memory of us is simple, but was us at the core. We didn't have to do much to make each other happy and totally content. You are my home. You always got me. I miss you everyday, every second. You are the love of my life, never forget that. I love you honey. I'll be seeing you.
    Love Always and Forever,
    Your Wife xoxoxo

Josh, You were a man I inspired to be. From me watching you on the field as a freshmen to seeing join the army. You lead the way in what man I wanted to be. You inspired me to play football and join the army to be a cav scout. Now I am here looking at you memorial at Bostick. It scares me everyday that this place will bring a end to all Placer students. It reminds me every time I walk past it that if a man like you can fall in this hellhole then i can fall twice as fast. Every time I put my head down, your memory inspires to fight much harder and climb that ridge line that much faster. Looking at your memory everyday. Rest In Peace.
