He was self-made. He never asked for anything, and he gave everything. At 21 years of age, Kirk Bosselmann impacted the lives of everyone he touched.

Bosselmann was born in Canada and became a U.S. citizen the summer before he was killed. He traveled by train to California from his home in rural Maryland, hoping to jump out of airplanes to fight fires. Instead he joined the Marines.
