    La Mar was one of two soldiers who died Jan. 15 in Mosul, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an Iraqi soldier from the unit with which they were training shot them with small arms fire. Specialist La Mar was promoted posthumously to sergeant.

    I don't know this soldiers as I'm just visiting the LA Times website. I thank him and his family for his dedication to our county. Thank you for keeping America free and protecting our beliefs. It's because heroes like you my very young daughter will be able to live freely in this wonderful country. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! RIP

    I did not know Martin J. Lamar but I lost a friend in Iraq on the same day as Mr. Lamar. Thank you Mr. Lamar for your service to our country. Thank you for being so brave and for being a hero for all of us. My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Lamar and his friends and family.

    Dear Lamar Family,

    Please except my condolence. I'm sorry for the lost of your loved one. Our Heavenly Father says at Psalms 46:9 He is going to cause all wars to cease. That will be so wonderful. Please read Revelation 21:3,4 because it gives us a wonderful hope for the future. May the God of Comfort be with you.

    I served with Mick in the Marines, we were in B Co 3rd LAI. He was a really down to earth guy. I am sorry I lost track of him when he got out. God Bless you and keep your family my Brother. SEMPER FI!!
