One of the survivors puts it this way, 'Mikey looked death in the face that day and said, 'You cannot take my brothers, I will go in their stead.'
    — President Bush, Medal of Honor ceremony

On the last day of his life, on a rooftop in Ramadi, Monsoor was assigned to protect three SEAL snipers. When a grenade lobbed from the street bounced off his chest, he yelled, "Grenade!" and pounced on it even though he had a clear path of escape.

Never had a memory of Mike, Yet I will never ever forget him. I live an entire coast away from where he grew up and a bit older than he was I'm sure, but I will always be in awe of a gentleman who bought and paid for the freedom myself and my children enjoy. God Love Him, I know I do!

Mike paid the ultimate price for OUR way of life here in America. It gives me a great feeling inside to be able to read about him. A great sense of pride wells up inside of me just to read about Mike and what he did for his comrades.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mikey when he and my nephew graduated BUDS where they had been swim buddies and become best friends. I had heard so much about him, his outrageous sense of humor and his love of things with motors that go fast (something he shared with my nephew and brother)...and he lived up to all the hype PLUS he was a kind and caring gentleman. A couple of years later he would come and visit my brother in the hospital when he was dying of cancer...those visits meant the world to Tim. I will never forget the day, just three months after his fathers death my nephwe called to tell me that Mikey had died. I was in shock. Such a horrific loss...such a bright light extinguished.. He will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, especially in our family as my nephew named his first son after his best friend and hero. Thank you Mikey for being who you were and for paying the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

I will forever miss my brotha from anotha mother. I had the pleasure of meeting Mikey in the 7th grade. We were friends ever since. He actually joined the Marine Corps to follow in his father, and older brother's footsteps. At that time, I joined the Navy, and was set on being a SEAL. Mike and I were trying to convince eachother to switch over, and we both did. Mikey went on to become more than we ever imagined, and I a Marine. I was blessed enough to run into him by chance before his deployment. I had a weekend getaway set up for S.D., and figured I would give him a call to see what he was up to. Mikey, his older brother Jim, brother-in-law Pablo, and some of our highschool buddies and friends were having a going away celebration at Belly Up in San Diego. I'm very grateful for that night. RIP brotha.

Recently, I came across the story of this brave warrior and for whatever reason, it triggered a possible memory of him. I am a former volunteer at the USO in Los Angeles and even though I have had the honor and pleasure of meeting many brave men and women, I think our paths may have crossed.
Wheather it is fact or not, he has unknowingly helped me recently. I lost my mother and my house and find myself in a place I would rather not be. His story has given me the courage to be strong and to never give up. His tombstone reads "No Regrets" and that is what I am striving for!

    God Rest your Soul!

And from the bottom of my heart, I thank you!

From all I have read and seen on Michael Monsoor, he is a true Hero, who is respected and loved by all who even if only by word of mouth or in his life story pictures got to know him. He was the perfect example of devout Catholic. He is the example of what we all should be. In learning about him I can honestly say that in my heart I will always remember this very special young man and his family forever in my prayers. His story has really touched my soul and I for one will never forget him.
