He was a great father, and a very loving, caring and compassionate husband. And he loved his country.
    — Debi Coffelt, widow

Coffelt enlisted in the Army right after high school and served eight years. He rejoined after a stint in the Army National Guard in New Mexico.

Two memories of Ronald L. Coffelt

To his widow: From a foundation put in place in my home state of Illinois I have a dogtag with your husbands name placed upon it. I also know that his name is placed on the commemorative wall along with many other soldiers in my state.

I served with Ronald in 2005 while in Iraq. He was a great man, always willing to help out a fellow soldier when needed. Myself & a few other guys from or old unit The 126th, out of New Mexico were sitting around remembering our days in the desert. Coffelt was a big part of what we accomplished out there as a unit. Just wanted to stop by and say a few words & to let SGT Coffelt's family know that his memory still goes on, for he will not be forgotten.
