The war changed him in a lot of good ways. After the first tour, when he came back, he was always saying he loved you. That’s not something we grew up a lot with, showing that kind of emotion. But that’s something he brought with him and into our family.
    — Seng Sim , brother

The youngest of 11 children, Sim was born in the Philippines to parents who had fled the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. After Sept. 11, Sim decided to join the military and fight for the country that gave his family a chance to live in peace. Sim died during his third tour while on patrol in Afghanistan. He was killed two days after his son's first birthday.

I shared so many laughs with him in Mrs. Landrian's spanish class. He was the only person to call me by my spanish name "Pancho" after our class ended. Every time I think of him now, I can still hear him say "Pancho" in my head...

I remember standing post in the cold...we were all miserable. But he wasn't he had an unending amount of luster. He would pull off hand stands and head spins just to see you smile. It effects me even now to know he isn't out there. To all my brothers, alive or passed on, I miss you, and until we meet again, Semper Fi.

I remember the time Sim brought back a duck to the barracks from his hometown, he cooked it and it was in his fridge one day when I opened it, I was in shock! When I looked at him we both broke out in laughter, this is just one of many times I shared a laugh with him while serving in the Marines. I got out after the first deployment to Iraq Sim did and it hurts to know he didn't come back home on his third. RIP Sim.

Man sim was definitely a one of a kind man. You can always count on him for anything, especially a great laugh. Had mad swag to him, always thought it was funny to see him in his little ole car. So low he could barely drive on gravel. Great guy great personality. Stuff was too funny when he beat up prather's scummy ass. Dude definitely was a true grunt. His death was very tough on the company, and inspired many of his juniors to volunteer just like him. We will never forget you and we will meet up again my brother Semper Fi And remember Suicide Charley all day.
