Corlew grew up in Newbury Park, according to his obituary in the L.A. Daily News. He was a 17-year veteran. His father served in the Marines during the Korean War and the family's military roots date back to the American Revolution.

I was privledged to haved served with Sean in Special Operations. He helped me learn the meaning of integrity and he helped shape both my personal and professional life. Every time I hear the word hero or someone thanks me for serving, I think of Sean, he is my hero. Thank you Sean!
