There are many things for which Guy will be remembered, but what we will never forget is his desire to help others and his commitment to the mission assigned to him.
— Unidentified soldier, eulogy
Born in Jamaica, Guy became a U.S. citizen in July 2004. He was known among his fellow soldiers for his sense of humor and his efforts to help the Iraqi people. He used his own money to buy the children toys, soccer balls, clothes and candy.

Guy was someone I always looked forward to seeing at drill, when I was in Iraq this past spring I thought about him and miss him.

I remember when he first started school here in Pomona, he was such a nice guy who would always put a smile on your face. You will greatly be missed Shakere....

I knew Guy the very first day he came to our Cavalry unit, after the first day I knew all us Soldiers there would be his friends for all of our lives. I just never thought that we would lose him the way we did. It was very hard on all of us, my heart will always ache when I think of him.

Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice so that the people in America can continue living free. There are alot of people in this country that have no clue, respect or honor for those like you that paid the ultimate price to live the way that we do in America. Living free is not free, it comes at a very high price. You payed that price for the Country you loved. Although I never knew you Shakere, I thank you and honor you. God Bless you, Ronald Weber
