I told him, 'This is a bad time, we're at war,' but this is what he decided he wanted to do. He was so very, very shy, and he went off and became such a courageous thing. I don't understand. Part of it was he wanted to become a man, but also I think he really wanted to help people.

Seven memories of Shane M. Stinson

I think this is a wonderful tribute to Shane and the many other young men who gave their lives for their country. I worked with his Mother at Sparkletts for over 25 years and we were all so sadden and shocked by his death. So many of the Sparkletts family attended his funeral that there was only standing room only that overflowed the church. We will always remember his sacrifice on each Memorial Day.

    Shane,
Every time I see your tag I talk to you. I only know you thru your mom.

    Shane,

It's been over a year and a half and the sadness never goes away. I can still visualize you coming through our front door with that shy smile of yours, the many nights you and Justin spent hour’s playing cards, laughing together and of course the “mom” jokes. Every day I see the sadness on his face. He misses you so much and on the night his son, Mason, was born his one wish was that "Uncle Shane" could have been there. You are an amazing person who gave your life so we could all live ours as we choose. Thank you so much for being such a big part of Justin, Kody, and my lives. We will never forget your sacrifice; you will be in our hearts forever. Mason will grow up knowing what an incredibly brave, loving, wonderful, thoughtful and caring person his Uncle Shane forever will be.

We love and miss you every day,
    Robin

Where you used to be, there is a hole in the world, which I find myself constantly walking around in the daytime, and falling in at night. I miss you like hell.

losing a loved one hurt so much . And to learn of this really hurt me deep . Shane was a very shy kid I remember practicing football in the park and it was just me Ryan and Shane and before we new it there where over ten . So the fallowing year we put Ryan and Shane in football and played for the bellflower broncos . I WANT TO LET YOU NOW THAT YOU AND YOUR BROTHER AND MOTHER HAVE ALWAYS HAD A PLACE IN MY HEART LOVE YOU AND MY DAUGHTER IS UP THERE WITH YOU .

Shane, we were in the same platoon in basic, I remember you always watching for drill sgts so we could all sleep in the bays. You always put the needs of others before yourself. I think about you everyday. I never thought it would be like this. They told us everyday we would go over there and fight for our country. I didn't end up going and I'm sorry I wasn't there. Please know that you are not forgotten.
