He could have gotten out of it if he'd tried really hard. But they were his soldiers, they were his guys. He'd trained them up and he couldn't leave them hanging.
    — Emily Herron McFall, widow

His wife learned of his death on Memorial Day, 2007. She says the sergeant who delivered the news was "white as a ghost." McFall was buried with a Guinness beer stein and a Big Dog barbecue shirt. As he requested, bagpipes played at his funeral.

Three memories of Thomas M. McFall

He could have not been a more caring leader, someone to talk about food, family and freinds and pratical jokes with. For a while he was my Sqaud Leader before going to the board, i believe that because of him then has made me a better Squad Leader myself. He is greatly missed

Our son, Tommy, was a one-of-a-kind sort of guy. He was a great caring son, brother, husband, father, and friend. He had time for all of his friends. He never forgot he was part of a bigger brotherhood of fellow soldiers. It was his life and he loved it. We will never forget his sacrifice, but he would say, "It's my job."

Rest in Peace, Brother. May the Lord keep you in His care till we all meet again.
