Adams was a descendant of presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams. He graduated from the Naval Academy and was an exchange officer with the Royal Navy when he was killed. Adams' father helped design the Aerospace Museum in Balboa Park.

We are of the same family and named after the same relative. I didn't know Thomas very well but honor his service and sacrifice as a result of the sea king crash. I'm a flight medic in the AF wishing I could have been available to respond with the air sea rescue effort back then. Rest in piece cousin and I will see you in Valhalla
