They judge us and say we just come to take their jobs and positions, but we also make sacrifices. Victor worked since he was little, in the fields and in restaurants. He was a Mexican, but he thought like an American. And he gave his life for this country.
    — Yosio Toledo, brother

Toledo-Pulido was smuggled over the mountains from Mexico with his older brother and mother when he was 7 years old. He became a legal resident in 1999 and toiled in the fields of the Central Valley with an uncle, picking crops.

Seven memories of Victor H. Toledo-Pulido

I am not a relative, but even after two years (this is 2009, October) - this story of Victor H. Toledo-Pulido is powerful. His story of sacrifice cannot be ignored, no matter what his means of entering this country. His is the type of character that has made this nation great. We are indebted to him.

My uncle thought the world for his son Isaac.I loved him very much. He was always very inspiring when we felt down or depressed. He was the cool one. Although he struggled he always kept a smile on his face =)I love you.

I was his best friend in Fort Benning, Georgia. He was always up beat and always on the go. I really miss him and I know that one day I will see him again. Good luck Isaac. You had an excellent father. Call me when you are older and I will tell you some of the many things that your father and I did together. I will never forget the sacrifice that he did for this country.
