Dougie is a yellow Labrador retreiver. He's a goofy, carefee dog, and Dougie just seemed to fit his personality.
Named after the character on Seinfeld. He is a Jack Russell Terrier with a crazy personality like Kramer.
Rocco was the size of my hand when we picked him up in Downey. We were told his mom was a minature pincher and his dad a chihuahua - I knew he was going to be a pretty interesting little dog. I wanted a name he could grow into - he definitely owns his name.
Perris Moon got his name on the ride home to Palm Springs - we liked Paris but felt it was too feminine and the city name Perris felt more fit for a boy. His middle name came from a Shih-Tzu book.
When our rhodesian ridgeback was a puppy he would run on the hardwood floors with no ability to stop himself. The resulting crashes were always fun to watch.
The Elva was an English race car designed and built by Eric Broadley in the mid 50s to early 60s. The Elva GT was the basis for the Ford GT. The name Elva is a pun on the French phrase "elle va", which means "she goes".
Our speedy whippet is named Elva.
He's so sweet. If only his legs were longer.
I was ecstatic when I saw Friday's article about the research done by Ben Welsh which compelled me to get on the computer (which I so rarely do) and express my deep gratitude and appreciation. The article was very well written by Carla Hall. The LA Times so rarely writes about pets (animals in general, actually) that I was bowled over when I saw this article.
Anyway, I have two very beloved dogs (and four rescue cats). Their names are one of a kind - as they are; I believe, actually, that the names people bestow upon their children and their pets are very reflective of what they want in and expect of (as well as how they feel about) their pets.My Standard Poodle, who is l2 l/2 years old, is named Sunny Days (because she made my life full of sunny days);my newest rescue, miniature poodle's name is Dilly Raindrops. Dilly (which means remarkable) and Raindropsafter the song which tells of the trials of a sad being and eventualtriumph! Both Sunny Days and DillyRaindrops are known and seen all over, since I walk them daily and take them wherever I go, weather and placepermitting. They are also therapy dogs at Holy Cross Hospital - a miraculousfete since Dilly started out beinga little terrorist! Thanks again for writing and databasin (if that is a correct term) ofthe animals who so enrich our lives!
To be like the Cookie Monster, cherful and healthy.
While I was bringing her home the Fleetwood Mac song Rhiannon came on the radio. I looked at her and said Rhiannon and she looked at me. And that became her name. When I wanted her to come,I sounded her name out like they did in the song. It sounded so pretty. She passed away at age 16. Now every time the song is played I think of her. Since I always give my dogs a middle name, I called her Rhiannon Marie.
