Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks were struggling solo performers in Nashville until an Arista Records executive put them together in 1990. The top-selling country duo released their debut album the following year.

They soon emerged as one of the all-time most popular pairs in country music, scoring hits such as "Boot Scootin' Boogie," "Play Something Country" and "Cowgirls Don't Cry." In 2009, they announced that they would retire as a duo.

Their farewell concert — which will benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame — is scheduled for August 2010. Both men plan to pursue solo careers after the amicable split.
