Bryan Cranston has the distinction of being one of the few Hollywood actors who has two iconic TV characters on his resume that couldn’t be more different. The actor has gained the most acclaim for the series “Breaking Bad,” in which he plays Walter White, a terminally ill high school chemistry teacher who gradually transforms into a murderous crystal meth manufacturer and drug dealer.

Cranston has won three consecutive Emmy Awards for lead actor in a drama series for “Breaking Bad,” which premiered in 2008. He is only the second lead actor to win three in a row.

But he is also well known for his role as the goofy father Hal on the family comedy “Malcolm in the Middle,” which premiered in 2000. The show lasted seven seasons.

Since “Breaking Bad” began, Cranston has been featured in several high-profile films, including the Oscar-winning “Argo,” “Total Recall,” “The Lincoln Lawyer,” “Drive” and “Rock of Ages.”

A noted character actor, Cranston’s most well-known role before “Malcolm in the Middle” was as astronaut Buzz Aldrin in the HBO miniseries “From the Earth to the Moon.” Other credits include “Seinfeld,” “The X-Files,” “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” “Babylon 5” and “The King of Queens.”
