Fred Niblo directed some of the most legendary stars of some of the biggest films of Hollywood's silent era.

Niblo, who entered pictures in 1918 as a director for the Thomas H. Ince Co., began his show business career performing in vaudeville.

His most memorable picture, probably, was, "Ben Hur."

Others included "Blood and Sand" with Rudolph Valentino; "The Temptress," one of Greta Garbo's first successes; "The Mark of Zorro" and "The Three Musketeers both with Douglas Fairbanks.

Two of the last pictures he made were "Young Donovan's Kid" with Richard Dix and "The Big Gamble" with William Boyd.
