Jane Darwell was a stage and screen actress for more than 60 years who won a 1941 supporting role Oscar for her performance as Ma Joad in "Grapes of Wrath."
Hollywood tended to cast Darwell in matronly character roles. One of her most memorable parts was as the "Bird Woman" in Walt Disney's "Mary Poppins."
