Laurence Trimble

Director Born May 1, 1885 in Robbinston, ME

Laurence Trimble began as a silent film director and later became a dog trainer, retiring from pictures to train animals exclusively.

Trimble was the director of the Strongheart pictures and part owner of the famous film dog.

Originally with Vitagraph Studios, Trimble wrote and directed pictures in England from 1916 to 1919. For the next seven years he directed American pictures including "Everybody's Sweetheart," "The Silent Call," "Brawn of the North," "The Lone Master," "White Fang" and "My Old Dutch."

One of the first canine film stars, Jean the Vitagraph dog, had been coached by him.
