Peggy Lee was known for her soft, rhythmic voice and purring sensuality, which made her a favorite of jazz and pop audiences for half a century.

She was best known to a broad audience for songs that became her trademark, such as "Fever," and "Is That All There Is?" later winning three Grammys, including a lifetime achievement award in 1995.

A fine actress, she was also nominated for an Academy Award for her role as an alcoholic blues singer in the 1955 film "Pete Kelly's Blues" and provided her voice for several characters in Walt Disney's "Lady and the Tramp."
