Richard Rowland was a successful American film producer and executive.
Rowland entered the motion picture business at the age of 18 as a film distributor and was founder of the original Metro Film Corp.
Rowland was an executive member of the 20th Century-Fox story department and was said to have inaugurated the policy of bringing top-flight personalities of the stage to the motion picture screen. Rowland was credited with being the "discoverer" of Rudolph Valentino, Francis X. Bushman, Harold Lockwood and other early screen stars.
