He’s best known for his breakout role as baseball player turned bartender Sam Malone on “Cheers,” but that was only the beginning for Ted Danson.
He got his start doing commercials and soaps before graduating to “Cheers,” costarring alongside leading ladies Shelley Long and Kirstie Alley. When the show wrapped in 1993, he made time for films such as “Made in America” and “Pontiac Moon” before launching his own sitcom. “Becker,” about a misanthropic doctor who hates life, lasted six seasons, from 1998 to 2004.
More recently, Danson has been featured on the television shows “Damages,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Bored to Death.”
