Wendy Barrie was one of the first movie personalities to appear in television advertisements.
Although most of her movies were not major productions, she drew favorable reviews for her performances in the 1933 British film "The Private Lives of Henry VIII," "Dead End" with Joel McCrea in 1937 and "The Hounds of the Baskervilles" with Basil Rathbone and Richard Greene in 1939.
She became something of a household figure when she began doing commercials on "The $64,000 Question" television quiz show. She also hosted a number of talk shows during the late 1940s and early 1950s.
