Schnittker was a member of the Lakers' championship teams in 1953 and 1954. Another in a long line of muscled Minneapolis forwards, the 6-5 Schnittker played end on Ohio State's 1949 Rose Bowl team.

Schnittker was an exceptional free-throw shooter, making nearly 83% of his shots from the line during his career.
