The third overall pick in the 1956 draft by the Minneapolis Lakers, Paxson averaged 6.3 points and 3.7 rebounds before being traded to the Cincinnati Royals in 1957. Paxson's sons, Jim and John, both played in the NBA and were also NBA general managers.
