A former standout at Long Beach Poly High and USC, Mack Calvin was drafted by the Lakers in 1969, but didn’t play for them until the 1976-77 season.
He opted to start his professional career with the Los Angeles Stars of the American Basketball Assn. in 1969. He became a five-time ABA All-Star with five teams before the league merged with the NBA in 1976.
He joined the Lakers for the 1976-77 season, appearing in 12 games before being traded to San Antonio for a future first-round draft pick (Brad Davis).
