Drafted by the Lakers in the second round of the 1978 NBA Draft, Carter appeared in 46 games with the Lakers during the 1978-79 season. He saw limited playing time during Jerry West’s final year as coach and was waived by the team in October 1979. The 6-foot-5 guard played his final 13 NBA games with Indiana the following season.
