Zelmo Beaty, a three-time American Basketball Assn. All-Star, played the last 69 games of his professional career in Los Angeles after being acquired in a trade with Atlanta in 1974. The 6-foot-9 center primarily played a support role to Elmore Smith, averaging 5.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. Beaty coached the Virginia Squires during the final season of the ABA.
