Keep in mind
- The Times initially mispelled the name of Michael Hammersley and Beverly Mosley.
- The coroner's office reported a 26th victim the afternoon of Sept. 15, but a few hours later said the tally was 25.
Greg and I worked together in Van Nuys. When I met him, he was a new guy on the block, who basically kept to himself. But you could tell that he was going to be an asset to the Service because he was smart, interested in learning his new job, and a very hard worker. On occasion, he and I went to the field together. I remember one time in particular, Greg, who was a big strong guy, was asked to accompany me, a short older woman, to the field to serve papers on an unhappy client. He gladly did, but when the client's dog ran out of the house barking, Greg left me there with the angry client and ran about 100 yards up the block. Although Greg was a big strong guy, he was afraid of barking dogs. We laughed all the way back to the office, and talked about the incident every time we ran into one another. I haven't seen Greg much in the past few years, but whenever I did run into him downtown, we were always glad to see one another and catch up a bit. I am very saddened by Greg's death, because he was just a good, good guy.

Mrs. Arnold and Jeanette,
We are so very sorry for your loss. We feel so priviledged to have know Dennis (Mr. Arnold to Andrew). I know that he made such an impact in Andrew's life as his teacher at Stoneridge Prep and we will forever be grateful. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May Dennis rest in peace.
I did not know Walt. I am moved by these loving posts. My deepest sympathies for your loss.
Roger was one of a kind. He touched me and so many other people with his heartfelt kindness and English humor. I observed him thousands of times at lunch putting a smile on strangers face speaking in his native English accent. He was also very proud to be an American.
It was all about trains, soccer, friends, laughing and family. I enjoyed many lunches sitting on a park bench in Travel Town eating a sandwich, drinking a lemonade forgetting about work for a while, listening to Roger talk, hoot and chuff loudly like a locomotive. Roger was Like a knowledgeable tour guide as he knew how the all the train equipment worked old and new. Ironically he died on a train where he was the happiest swaying back and forth.
One day he told me as went to lunch, he had some special new for me. I said I have some special news for him as well, so that day I told him was going to become a father and he proudly quipped he was going to become a grandfather as his face lit up. What a special day we shared! I told him he would be the greatest grandfather to have. As usual roger would return a compliment with a greater compliment. I hope Madison (20 months) his granddaughter whom was shorted her Grandpa finds out what a giant of a man she had for a little while.
I will cherish in my heart many more stories of Roger. Roger was my best friend at work and a most dear friend outside as well. A great personal loss for me, Liz his wife and others. I will truly miss him. John
Rest in Peace, Marine.
Uncle Larry,
I'm so sorry, Mom called us Saturday morning and we were in disbelief. We only get a chance to see you and the family once a year during xmas time. Our deepest thoughts and heartfelt prayers to you and the kids. Aunt Donna is surrounded by alot of caring and loving family, friends and co-workers. So much care and kindness she has given to all that know her and all these wonderful thoughts people are sharing about her only brings out the warmness and love of the heart she has.
Love you Uncle Larry
it is not for US to forgive, but for the victims and their families. My heart goes out to all of them, to Mr Sanches' family also.
If texting is determined to be the cause, it is not a "mistake" it is carelessness that took the life of 24 innocent people. Laws have to be put in place so this can never happen again!
Aida was my best friend's room mate last year. I had the honor of meeting her once. She had such a wonderful presence and a loving and peaceful aura to her. I know that she will be greatly missed, but never forgoten. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family.
