Howard was a fellow charter member of the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise with my husband, Bill. We have fond memories of time and events shared with him.

It was devastating to see his name among the fatalities of this horrible accident. Our hearts and prayers are with his family.

I saw your story on the news and could not stop thinking about your daughter and family. As my daughter went to FIDM and recently graduated. I could not stop reading the papers and watching the news hoping she was o.k. I have been crying for your family as well as all the victims of this tragedy. My heart sank when I heard what had happened to your daughter. My deepest condolences to your family. Even though I do not know you or your family just know I am praying for your family.

Of all the stories in the news coverage, the story of the woman searching for Maria Villalobos stuck out for me. I just checked-in today, Sunday, and my heart stopped when when I saw Maria's name in the list. I am so truly sorry that this happened to her and to the other people who lost their lives so suddenly and tragically. My prayers are dedicated to her memory as a symbol for all of them. God Bless You in ths difficult time.

Mr. Long was the best teacher I ever had. He always made us learn even when we thought we weren't. When tests came around we always new the answers somehow. He just had a way of getting things across, and he always made it fun. He believed in all of us, every one of us. then he let me join cross country without any pre-season training because he knew I wanted to do it, and that was enough for him. he was a great man, and we should all strive to be like him. He will be missed, God be with his family.

I never knew you. I never even met you. However, I cried when I saw them remove your body from the wreckage on t.v. At the time I did not know anything about you, except that you were a police officer, for which I have deep respect and admiration. To discover that you are the same age and sex as I am resonates with me deeply. You have taught me not to take life for granted and not to be overcome with day to day concerns and pettiness. You have helped me to see the "bigger picture", if you will. I am so sorry that you passed, but I have learned a valuable lesson from you. My heart is with your family and friends. I am so sorry for their pain.

I have great memories of Doyle following him around on the farm when I was little. Although I have not had much contact with Doyle in the past years I have thought of him often.
Claudia and their kids are on my mind constantly during this difficult time.

Like many regular Metrolink riders we are creatures of habit. Chris was on the platform Friday morning, his usual cheerful self. Standing in the same place waiting for the 7:20 AM to arrive. As usual I said good morning as Penny approached. We chatted about how it was getting cooler and Chris joked it would almost be time for Penny to put on an overcoat. He loved the cooler mornings and said if he could he would wear shorts to work. Always ready with a joke or teasing comment we wished each other a nice weekend and said goodbye. How is it possilbe that this would be the last time I would ever see Chris? I went to the Moorpark station on Saturday and stood on the same spot where we last spoke. I could still see his smile as he boarded the train. It's said that we will remember people for how they made us feel. I'll remember Chris for his ready smile, a genuinely nice person who cheered up my mornings. Chris, you made a difference even to a perfect stranger.
