What a shock to learn of the loss of a fellow Beardstown High School classmate. He was a kind hearted and quiet person with a sense of humor, as most people have mentioned, even after 30 years. My heart felt sympathy go out to his family in California and at home in Beardstown, Illinois. Always remember he is in no pain, at peace and you will see him again some day with faith in God above.
Ron cared SO deeply for the students. This was evident in the extracurricular activites he participated in as well as how he interacted with students on a daily basis. When he made classroom visits, you can see how hard he tried to reach the students and encourage them to strive for a good future. It's no wonder he has so deeply impacted the lives of countless students throughout the years.
But it's not only students' lives he impacted. When I was a new teacher at Roosevelt 6 years ago, he was one of the people who helped me to feel accepted. He just had that effect. Ron Grace had a heart of gold. His passing is a tremendous loss to the Roosevelt family. I can't even begin to imagine what his own family is going through. To the Grace family, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Mr. Long was never my teacher, but I've known Devin since I was in kindergarten. I got to know Mr. Long over the 8th grade east coast trip and after that, Devin and I switched over from Grace to Oaks for the start of our 9th grade year. I will always remember Mr. Long as the man who made every attempt to see every sports team play. He loved to support the school and he did so by teaching his students and cheering for his students during sports games. Thank you Mr. Long for always asking me how I was doing in school, sports, and overall, life. You're family is in our prayers! We love and miss you!
I am so sorry for your lose.
Happy 60th Birthday Dad! We miss you so much!
Love, Doozers, Danny and Landen ( LA )
I still get chills and teary-eyed thinking about the sound of the bagpipes from your funeral. You weren't even supposed to be on THAT train, yet there we all were in the church saying goodbye to you. Such a tragedy. Thank you for giving us such great memories. Surely you will be missed, Spree! A lot!
We will cherish Memories of singing together in the Amen Choir, especially the Living Christmas Tree Performances at First Baptist Church, Van Nuys, CA.
You and your precious daughters are a Blessing to keep close in our hearts.
Love, Peter and Sharon Jean Daly
