I guess other than Don Robinson here at Delta myself and Don knew him longer than anyone here.In 30 years we have seen alot of people come and go but nothing has hit me harder than the loss of Chuck.I am just now getting to where I can talk about him.I have watched him grow from the skateboarding kid that came up to Anchorage where I met him to the man that left here on Friday. My heart goes out to all that knew him and he will be sorely missed.I dont know how much he talked about his workmates but I am the one also known as Hollywood that last abbreviated "See Ya Holly" will have to last the rest of my life.Chuck my friend,"Rest In Peace"....

"Mr. Consistent," that's who he was. He knew what was true (The Word of God), absorbed it, shared it, and lived it CONSISTENLY! No doubt, Paul would humbly refuse such a tribute, but it is no less true. For now, he leaves behind a precious wife and son, but soon, the one who Paul Long consistently preached will bring about a great reunion. We who believe in Jesus look forward to seeing Paul again. There will be worship and praise - then 'Mr. Consistent' will correct my punctuation. We loved Paul Long and our deepest sympathy and prayers are with Karen and Devin. In His grace, Steve and Lynne Brewer.

Our families met through basaball, league ball then travel ball with the Sliders. From baseball then it was fishing and poker. One of the fond memories was fishing with Walt in Mexico when we had 3 marlin hooked up at the same time going in different directions with Walt saying "what do I do"? reel till you can reel anymore.....1-1/2 later he released his marlin. He never gave up which is way he lived life. To the father, dad, poker player, fisherman and most of all a friend, you will be missed.

Manuel,
Thank you for the generosity of spirit with which you touched so many. Though we knew each other only briefly, a little bit of your smile now lives in each one of mine. I'll continue to pass it on.
Peace,

My heart is broken, I knew Paul for 28 years he was my teacher, I remember when I first meet him I was sitting in class and heard someone yelling PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE, please sit down, at Indian Hill Christian Academy, when I stuck my head in to see who this was I saw a rather thin man, I was expecting to see a football running back. What a beautiful man who loved his family so much! When I was trying to get my children into Grace Brethren 10 years ago, they were not taking to many students because they were at there max. I ran into Paul at 'Jim's Tires' and told him and he said, 'Tim lets pray' Cory and Kyle have been attending there ever since! To God be the glory in everything he hath done! Paul when God needs to call us all home after the trumpet call, usher us all in by yelling PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE it's time to come home! With all our love Tim, Monica, Cory, Kyle Edwards

It only took a brief encounter over cards to make a lasting impression as to how wonderful a person he is. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Mr. paul szymborski! Shame Shame Shame! This is no time to tell Mr. Pompel's biological children that they were not "close to their dad and that they should stop acting as though they were." Howard may not have shared everything about his children or his wife with you. I worked with him for MANY years at Blue Cross and knew he loved his children and his wife in good times and in bad. Yes, all families go through difficult issues that cause separation but one thing ALWAYS remains true - we remain family!

God Bless & my thoughts are with Howards ENTIRE family at this very sad and difficult loss.

Mr. paul szymborski! ORIGINAL POST:
Being that i am the FAMILY FRIEND who spoke to Howard 5minuts before the crash, i would like to set something straight. Howard and i played scrabble every THURSDAY Night, along the way, we would stop for a bite to eat, and have many one-on-one conversations. For the record, To cliff and barrie, you were not as CLOSE to your dad as you are making everyone beleive. In ALL the conversations Howard and i had on our Thursday night outings, he NEVER EVER mentioned you two. In fact the one time he mentioned Cliffs name, it was in DISGUST. In fact, before the Before the memorial service, i never even knew he had a daughter. So for the record, honor the man, not disgrace his name. So please dont act like the loving children you are making yourselfs out to be.People like you two SICKEN me like no end.

in honor of Howard, i am gooing to miss you very, very much. I really enjoyed our thursdaay night outings, and just wish we could have played pool on that fateful friday like we had planned. GOD BLESS YOU HOWARD

As a casual friend of Roger, I was deeply saddened when I received a phone call at 10:10 Sunday evening from a friend who saw Roger's name on the news. Somewhere between 10-15 years I have been watching football matches(soccer games) on Saturday mornings in Pasadena at 7:00 with Roger, which is a healthy trek from Simi Valley on a day when most people sleep in.

Like many other have stated, he was always good for a smile. He had a solid perspective and his demeanor was not overly affected by the outcome of the matches as opposed to many of the rest of us rabid fans at that unusual hour of the day.

Although I knew of his sons, I never met them, and I believe I met his wife once and met his brother once, please accept my condolances which I cannot articulate well. I am saddened that he is gone, I find myself fortunate to read so many honourable rememberances of a truly gentle man.
