I remember with bitter/sweet thoughts of those five days I spent with you and Brigadier General Gary Medvigy. From the of waiting for the aircraft to arrive at Los Alimitos airfield and the amazing drive across LA County to the Rose Hill cemetery my heart felt twisted with knowing Blue was a hero but also dead. You, Andrew, and your family were amazing to get to know during those days. The dignity and military honors paid to Blue with the 24 hour guard at his remains and everything leading up to that day we buried him on top of the hill inspired so many. It was so nice to read today of the $5000 scholarship Andrew received for his education. I am so proud of both of you and pray with you to see that day when in heaven he welcomes his family. I love you both and may God be with you. You were one of the people that made my service with the 426th so rewarding and memorable. Bless you, your family, and our nation. I'm so thankful for that last time. You gave me one of your dog tags before you left.. you said "Next time I see you, I want to see you still have this." I love you, and you are missed Uncle Blue. Give him a hug for me will you? If I could have been by your side to prevent your death, I WOULD HAVE. Same for Ide. Take care bro! I have just learned today that Blue died. We lost contact over the years. He was actually my team leader while in the 64th MP CO in Ft Hood, TX. He was a great soldier and an even better man. He really helped me more than words can explain. We will miss you 1SGT Blue Rowe and even though you were an NCO, I salute you good sir, may you rest in peace. I agree with Josh Holcomb, we have lost too many in death. I look forward to the time when all wars are going to cease as our Heavenly, Father Jehovah has promised us a Psalms 46:9. His son, Jesus says that all those dead in memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out to a resurrection at John 5:28,29. Then we will have a paradise earth for all mankind to live on, with nor more sickness, sorrow, pain or death, Revelation 21:3-5. It will be a joy to see our loved ones like Blue there. It took a very, very long time for it to sink in. You were a GREAT, person, soldier, leader and NCO. It is such a shame that I did not have you as my team leader or squad leader. Words cannot say how much I value the personal traits and characteristics you brought. To the other former 64th MP members from the 1999-2000 time frame that have logged in to BLUE'S Page, Mark and Luis ( Perez and Camacho, two great friends of mine during my time with the unit), I send each of you my prayers and hugs through my posting, as I do to Blue's Family as well. When you add loosing Ide two years ago, we have simply lost TOO MANY of our brothers and sisters in arms. He was one of the CA guys who made me feel like a member of the team even though I was a Signal Soldier. I will always remember him as the consummate professional and a great human being. My time serving with him in Dahuk was a highlight of my military career. Thu, 26 May 2011 01:55:43 -0700
