He helped me at my office on the weekends in Barstow and he was the nicest boy I had met I was very sad to hear of his passing now I can only hope that my boy grows up to be just a great servant like he was. My little sister and Timothy were the same age and were in Sunday school together. We spent a lot of time with the Watkins family during those years and I always remember Timothy as a happy, energetic little boy who never failed to put a smile on your face. Not long ago I found a picture of my sister and I with Timothy and Rachel at Easter, all dressed up. Its so hard to believe that the children in that picture are all grown and that one could possibly have made such a sacrifice. I never doubted that the Watkins were wonderful, God loving people but seeing their courage and faith at Timothy's funeral was astounding. They are true examples of what Christians should be. My friend Andy had Tim as his counselor, I believe, and I can remember hearing how much he admired Mr. Tim. I remember how funny he was and how some of the female counselors "secretly" had crushes on him. The year after, I was in a cabin with one of his sisters and his sister Rachel was my sister's counselor. The final year I went to camp, I was once again there for a week of Rob Watkins' crazy antics with his puppets, and I remember Bekah being there...but no Tim. That was June 2005. I wish I had fully realized then where he was and what he was doing. To know a family like the Watkins' had to go through that is terrible and heartbreaking, but from what I remember about the summers I spent with them, they are very strong people. It couldn't have happened to a more test-ready family. I haven't seen the Watkins' 2005, but I am very thankful for them and the impact they had on me when I was young. I am very thankful to have met Tim and I am very thankful for his service to our country. May he rest in peace. I still do not know where it came from but I know it made an impact on my life and then by God's direction agagin I find this website. His dedication to freedom and especially God has encouraged me to live for God with all I have as if this was the last day I have. He was always so friendly and happy.:) I didnt get to talk with him much because he worked with the boys,but when i did I always got the idea that he was on fire for God and that he took his faith seriously,and that really made an impression on me.He is seriously one of the men i compare guys to when i decide if i want to like them or not...because Tim was awesome and took his faith seriously,and i want a man like that. He was an awesome counsellor at Ironwood,and i remember always having fun when on his team.And once again,i always got the idea that he was just so God-oriented. He was an amazing man that was truly and wonderfully used by God during his short years here.He is so missed. I can still remember the cheers he taught us and he was a great friend to everyone. With one look at him, you could tell he was on a walk with God. Tim was a great christian example and I have always admired him for keeping a close relationship with God. To hear that God had finally taken him home at such a young age, was heartbreaking. But it also made everyone around him aware that our time could be just as early. So as ironic as this sounds, Tim's death saved a lot of lives. I know I'm looking forward to seeing him in heaven.
