I can not believe that it has been over 10 years since finding out that you passed away, and going to your funeral. It was hard to be there and to see all of your family and friends who loved you, as I also saw you as a very important part of my HS years. I met Milton my first week going to Los Angeles High School as a freshman. With him, I met a group of rockers who would become my friends, Milton was a proud rocker. As a group of friends, we used to meet at the second floor of one of the main buildings looking at all of the students coming to school and getting their breakfasts. We all used to just talk about music, school life, and Los Angeles high school events. Just a beautiful memory now. It was you Milton, who introduced to me to the people who would become my friends. It was you Milton, who used to say "hello" to me when nobody else would. I still remember you walking around LA high with your black hoodie sweater and black long shorts, which would become your regular clothes and made you who you were in LA high: the awesome person that you are. As you walked around listening to music through your headphones and gave smiles to different people. I will always keep the memory of you alive in my heart. There is a reason why Milton was voted "most talented" in our 2001 HS year book, and that was because he was talented at reaching all of us, his friends, and making us feel great from day to day. Milton, you were one of the first people I got to sign my year book. It was because, without you I wouldn't have met all of the people I met in LA high. Without you, my HS years would've been so negative. I still have what you put on my year book, "To a very talented person, from an individual not worth remembering. I will always remember you as an individual who would never let anyone talk s--t or let anyone get away with anyone or anything see yah." - Milton. YOU WERE WRONG, Milton. You always will be worth remembering. I will always remember you for the rest of my life. I hope, and pray, that I will "see yah" again. RIP my friend, you always were an individual who was worth remembering. You meant the absolute world to me. I think of you every time I pass by the burger factory, LA High, listening to a perfect circle, and tool. I'll see you soon, thank you for being one of the most uniquely fantastic spirits to ever cross my path. We met freshman year in Honors English. We would meet in the school cafeteria at 630 a.m., yes that early, to go over the class work. We were supposed to join the ARMY together right after high school. I couldn't no matter how much I asked the recruiter to help me as he kept trying so me and Milton could join as war buddies. I wasn't able because my U.S. residency was still in process and not completed. We would talk about it so much. Milton went into the ARMY and I was so proud. A couple months after graduation I moved to Chicago where I saw that on Sept. 11 2011, we were going to war and thought about my best friend Milton going to war without me and I wanted to be with him to fight for our rights and freedom. I went into the Marine Corps recruiting station on my next day off that week and again I was denied to serve this country because I was not even a resident yet. I finally got my residency interview and passed with flying colors in December 2002. Had to fly to LA for the interview so when I flew back to Chicago that same week I went to join the Marine Corps. Now I have served this country, became a U.S. Citizen and did two tours to Iraq. I got a honorable discharge and got out as a Staff Sergeant. I never had any brothers and Milton sure treated me like one. I love you bro and you were a Best Friend, my Brother, my War Brother and have always been my Hero. Have visited this page so many times and I never had to courage to write anything as I would start to pour my heart out before I would start. I finally had the courage like you brother. I miss you every special occassion I've had specially my wedding without you, i miss you every year and I visit you at least once a year. See you tomorrow my friend for Memorial Day. You will always be in my heart and hope to finally get a tattoo with your name on it as you will always be near my heart. Sun, 29 May 2016 08:09:34 -0700 Aldo M. I knew him rather personally. Not from the Army but from L.A. High. I remember the day he befriended me just like it was yesterday when in fact it's been over 13 years. In what was to be his own personal trademark, he became my friend because he extended a helping hand. He opened his heart to me. He invited me to his house and over time became one of my best friends. I owe a lot to him. Not just for all the help but the influence and inspiration he gave me. Without him I would not be here today. Without him I would not know brotherly love. He gave me his friendship and my love for bands like Tool, A Perfect Circle and System of a Down. He will forever live in my heart because of the memories we shared. I always remember him when I hear any song from the bands aforementioned and I dedicate "Bro Hymn" to him. I love you and miss you. Peace, love, empathy. We used to have so much fun playing hide and seek in the dark and tag. As we got older we enjoyed just hanging out. He was such a kind loving person. I miss him and think about him everyday. He is in my heart and in my prayers every night. I hope wherever he is he's happy and at peace. He lost his life to protect ours and for that I will always be grateful. I send prayers to the family. He will be my comrade and homie forever. God bless my brother in arms. And I love what SGT Rivera remembers of him and why he joined, to serve the people of LA just so we can have freedom. I believe we were both trying to catch a small break before going back to work. It just so happened we shared the same agenda at the same time. We shared two more similarities in that we were both Chicanos serving in the Army, and we were both from LA. I would see him in passing and shoot him a "wassup" or a "que onda" he returned the gestures. the summer of '05 in South Baghdad was very tough on our Squadron. It got alot tougher when my fellow chicano, and Angelino went to be with GOD. You passed to soon bro, but I feel that you made the sacrifice you did because you were unselfish and sharing.
