Jose was a great kid, easy to get along with, and a whiz at math. It was heartbreaking to lose him. There is a memorial to him at Ensign School. My condolences to all his family members. Great guy! We used to eat ranger pudding near Flemings rack and hide from the drill instructors . I was lucky enough to hang with him before he left for Iraq. I came back from Afghanistan and was on convalescent leave nursing a knee injury and watching the news. Kia list scrolled across the screen and I seen his name. I was crushed! Fleming and Garibay were the first people I met entering the corps.
