Even now, words are hard to find. Remembering times of you dancing around a bonfire to our drum circles. I have pictures of your last New Years Eve party back home at your parents house. Somewhere, I have video of you dancing at a bonfire in OB. I will never part with these things, I will forever keep you in my heart. I don't live in Cali anymore, but I go visit you every time I'm home. I leave hugs and kisses for you. RIP friend, gone but never forgotten. Thank you to all of Brud's friends for all the kind words. Special thanks to all that served with Brud in combat and had his 6. He is a real true American hero who loved his country and his job as a soldier. He is my hero and I will do my best to live my life to the fullest and carry on your memory. I feel him with me always. I wanted to correct that it says on this website and many others that Brud was from Spring Valley Brud was from Potrero a border mountain town in east county San Diego. After reading the comments above I'm sure of it. We may very well have bumped into each other in Iraq, who knows? In our line of work there's no room for second guessing our actions and our decisions, as a Non Commissioned Officer you know as well as I do the burden of Leadership comes with a price, one which you have paid in full, and I thank you for your Service to this Great Nation. I have a flag that needs flying in your Honor, so catch up with Big Windy here in Kandahar and I'll take you for a ride, the jump seats waiting for you Brud, lets go fly that Flag! You will always be remembered, Memorial Day or not. A decade has past and you still are eminent in my thoughts. From the day I got to the bowling alley in Bandit island to our last seconds together in Karbala, you were always a person I looked up to, as a leader, a friend and a brother. You will be always missed and loved. I remember you saying once that you were looking forward to being in your 60s, sitting in a rocking chair and still listening to Korn full blast; you always had the best outlook on things. You are always missed. To his family and close friends, it must seem like yesterday.Plase be assured that BrudJis sleeping and awaiting the resurrection that our heavenly father Jehovah God promised at John 5:28, 29... "he will call and all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out.." What a wonderful time that will be! There will be peace ..."all wars will cease to the extremity of the earth..."(Psalms 46:9) Mon, 27 May 2013 07:40:53 -0700 Rich on May 23, 2013 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/brud-j-cronkrite/#c120913 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/brud-j-cronkrite/#c120913 I went through Basic training with Brud, A/2-81 at Fort Knox, I remember all the mentioned Push-ups he had to do, when he received his mail. After basic Brud and a few others to include myself were sent to Korea. I met up with him a few times there, and when he got his orders for Germany, he was very excited to go there. Myself and Brud were good friends in basic. I learned of his passing in 2006 when a fellow soldier from his unit informed me. I was in complete and total shock, not a day goes by that I don't remember him, as the Memorial weekend approaches, Brud will consistently be on my mind. Much love for you my friend.
