I was with him in Fox troop 2/3 ACR, and he was a great leader. Always leading by example, and never complaining. A great guy who always taught that doing the right thing is the right thing. Miss you, brave rifles brother! So saddened by this, blessings and love to his family! We saw battle many times at one anthers side, including the last one. I keep his memory alive every day. I have his dogtag in my car, and i wear a memorial band in his honor. I miss you Mike, until we regroup. This summer I will make the trip to his resting place. Mike and I served together in the 3rd ACR Ft Carson, CO. We spent every free minute up in the Cheyenne mountains fishing, hunting and camping. He taught me how to fly fish and gave me my first fly rod as a gift. Mike and I have been through quite a bit and I have missed him greatly! Today was bitter sweet as I finally got the soldiers cross tattoo in remembrance of him. He will always be with me and never forgotten. He and his wife asked me to be his daughter Danielle's godfather which I have accept years ago and will honor... God speed Mike and I will see you one day! Mon, 30 Dec 2013 04:00:51 -0800 SSG. Michael Grace ret. I came in a new guy with the unit in Iraq our first deployment and Ruoff didn't know I was with 3rd plt being we were separated. He dropped me and started playing "stump the chump" but I had a lot of answers for a PFC. he let me get up and gave me tons of his old training manuals and told me one thing. " study all you can, and love your job and you will get promoted." And he wasn't lying. I made SSG. in 5 years. That's the kind of man Rouff was. Selfless service I miss you big bro. Till me meet again. Thu, 28 Mar 2013 04:18:42 -0700 Paul H. Carson in F Troop, 2/3 ACR. I had the pleasure of going through the "Spur Ride" and becoming a fellow Spur Holder with Sgt Ruoff. He had a great attitude and was an outstanding soldier. Brave Rifles. Carson while we were stationed there. They lived next door to a friend in my unit, Ben (66th MI, 3rd ACR). Mike was a great guy and always had a smile or a funny story to tell. I remember when the beam in front of their place cracked, Mike zip tied it with about 20 zip ties to support it! Awesome. We went fishing, shooting, had bbq's, and we were at the hospital when his first child was born. To this day, we still think and smile about Mike's great outlook and how he always wanted to make everyone around him laugh. Mike, you are definitely missed. With love, Brian and Becky. Carson in F- troop 2/3 ACR. I was tasked to help Mike clean out one of the bases houses that a soldier from the troop had abandoned. It was a disaster! But, I remember it not being so bad because he was easy-going and great to work with. We cleaned that house griping the whole time, but looking back it was a good day. I will miss Mike and I know his soldiers will too. Carson and Ft. Bliss and he was an amazing person and soldier. We rode and crashed dirt bikes at Bliss and made the move to Colorado together. I saw Mike go from wild child to loving husband and father. He was a great friend and will be missed by all. Brave Rifles Wed, 05 Aug 2009 09:02:50 -0700
