When I was with CSC 1/184 (1981-85) in Turlock, as a new 2LT, Rays Dad was the 1SGT. SSG Gary Riley was the Readiness NCO. I was assigned to the 4 "Duece" Mortar Plt. SFC Wally Avellar was my Plt Sgt. I remember meeting Raymond, your Dad, when his Dad would bring him to drill at the Armory. Your grandpa (1SG Hill) was excited t bring him round. Your Dad was excited about one day joining the Guard like his Dad. I served and retired (2014) but will always rememberyou Grandpa and meeting your Dad when he was a young teenager, ready t one day serve. I am sorry for your loss, but know your Dad's service and sacrafice were not in vain. I will carry memories of your Granpa and Dad till the end of my days. They both, are never forgotten. God's blessings on you and your family. And one day, I hope to meet your Dad and Grandpa again, and just tell them Thanks for all they gave me. Be safe always, and know you are loved. No soldier fights alone when they are serving, they have parents, siblings, grandparents, spouses & children that share their separation while they serve, they sacrifice time with their soldier & in an ultimate sacrifice as that of Raymond & his extended family...a lifetime without him. Know that this American recognizes & appreciates everything they have done while supporting Raymond in his service to our country & to Raymond for all his service & sacrifices; especially his ultimate sacrifice! May God Bless you & Keep you all safe! Geri Lynn from Southern Michigan. As he said: "If I didn't do it, somebody else would have to." He made the ultimate sacrifice so that others may have peace. Our Heavenly Father son, Jesus Christ too, made the ultimate Sacrifice, so that others my have peace, but, also live forever in paradise just a God original purpose. He also, will call, and those in the Memorial Tombs, will hear his voice and come out. Just think, you have the opportunity to see Raymond again under better conditions. Soon there will be no more wars, all will put down the war weapons, turning their around hatred. (Revelation 21:1-5; John 5:28,29; Isa. 55:11; Isa. 33:24; John 17:3; John 3:16) Just a few of the many promises from our Grand Creator, Until that time comes, please allow the God of Comfort, Comfort you at this time. jw.org Thu, 08 Sep 2016 04:47:38 -0700 abu ceesay on November 28, 2015 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/raymond-d-hill-ii/#c182435 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/raymond-d-hill-ii/#c182435 Honestly he is worthy to be praise . Nobody knew what might happen in those early days. Ray was a big, enthusiastic, caring man. Besides being his medic, I was often his co-driver and bodyguard when we were on the road or out in the sand, which would often seem like being on an interesting field trip. Ray was very proud of learning and teaching Arabic numerals, characters, and phrases. Together, we went and watched an Arab shipbuilder building a beautiful vessel the traditional way. He was always seemed to have at least one or two extra projects going at any given time to improve our working area. We worked hard together, and enjoyed each other's company.
