Nearly every day he would bring his Humvee to me telling me the steering was stiff or loose or too tight. I'd always spend quite a bit of time adjusting and ensuring everything was completely sound and operational. In the mean time, he'd stand there talking with me, cutting up, joking around, and bringing the moral up even for just a few minutes. Great man, great soldier, and the memory still hits me hard. He will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace and watch over all fellow soldiers. I may have only known him a little more than half of my life since I'm 20 now but when I was little, he was like a big brother to me. I was really depressed when I found out that he had died. I looked up to him and I still do. This sounds dumb but because he was brave enough to join the military till the end he will always be a great role model to me as well as some what of a hero to me. I miss him a lot just like how my family does. I wish I could see him one more time, just for a day, just so I could show him how well I've been and how far I've gotten since the last time we talked. I will always miss and love you cousin and I hope to see you again someday :') Wed, 08 Jul 2015 12:40:48 -0700 Someone whocares on December 5, 2014 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/robert-b-thrasher/#c173438 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/robert-b-thrasher/#c173438 SGT Thrasher was a good soldier, what little I knew him. I was on the radio at CO HQ when his platoon sergeant came on in a near-frantic yell that he needed a medevac chopper, that Thrasher and Taylor the medic had been shot. We couldn't get a chopper because of the proximity to base... they had to pack him and drive him in. The medics tried everything they could en route but the wound was unrepairable... SGT Thrasher never seemed like he would be the first to go. Every day every man that was in that company thinks about Robert and what he and his family sacrificed. He is sorely missed, even by those who hardly knew him. He knew what we were getting into and he served proudly... RIP man.
