I've tried to live my Army career in your image and be that one NCO that went over and beyond like you were with us. I was with you all the way till the end, it's taken me over 10 years to let go what happened, but I've always felt something was wrong with that mission we took that day on November 23, 2003. That day is burned in my head and I've tried to rub some sand in it, hit it and forget it like you use to tell us. I will never forget you brother. To your family and friends I extend my deepest apologies and may you rest in peace. Hood. Deployed to Iraq in 03 with him. Always a great guy and friend. I remember many nights out front shootin the bull and later finding him sleeping in my sections area trying to soak up some a/c. :) Great guy who is still thought about to this very day and will never be forgotten. Eddie was always smiles. I couldn't have been more different (inbackstory) than eddie...I grew up in a life of priviledge (never let that b known at the time). I was a good basketball player, and played on the company team. Eddie was our coach. He was always upbeat, always fun. As we had the bond of bball, Eddie watched out for me. A guy with not much "street cred" and new in a unit is always happy to have a"tough guy" get their back. Eddie did that for me. In 2003 I heard of eddie's death. It's bothered me since. This man who showed me nothing but kindness was killed by pure hatred. How ironically awefull. I'm sorry to Eddie and his family...as I recall his wife was in the army as well (as I recall, at that time she outranked him...a fact we didn't forget to regularly remind him of!)....to his wife I also extend my apologize. What a loss. I'm sorry for all in eddies life. I'm happy tohave Been touched by him in his short life. Rip "meny". I also lived in the Jordan Downs, but grew up on 110th Street off of Wilmington. I was searching for classmates and saw Eddie's profile. My condolence to Eddie's family. I really feel touched. God is good !!! I'm glad I found a king from Watts. He was my younger brother's friend when we were groing up in the Jordan Downs Housing Projects together. He was always happy, I never saw Eddie get mad at a soul. May he rest in peace.
